Carlos Alcaraz defeats Stefanos Tsitsipas to reach semi-finals
Alcaraz wins in four sets to set up a semi-final clash with Alexander Zverev.
Carlos Alcaraz has reached the semi-finals of the French Open after defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas in four sets on Tuesday. The 19-year-old Spaniard won 6-3, 6-4, 6-7 (7-9), 7-5 to reach the last four of a Grand Slam for the first time.
Alcaraz made a strong start to the match, breaking Tsitsipas' serve in the first game. He held his own serve comfortably and broke Tsitsipas again to take the first set 6-3.
Tsitsipas fought back in the second set, but Alcaraz was too strong for him. The Spaniard broke Tsitsipas' serve twice more to take the second set 6-4.
Tsitsipas finally got a break of serve in the third set, but Alcaraz broke back immediately. The set went to a tiebreaker, which Tsitsipas won 9-7.
Alcaraz was not deterred by the loss of the third set. He broke Tsitsipas' serve in the first game of the fourth set and held his own serve comfortably to win the set 7-5.
Alcaraz will now face Alexander Zverev in the semi-finals on Friday.
